Basic chords All of the following are root position. The standard pop/jazz chord notation is shown in brackets, using the example root letter of C. There are two mirror-image shapes for each chord, one for a bottom-row starting note and one for a top-row starting note. These chord shapes are the same across the whole keyboard in all keys.
